Footprints in the Community Redcar

Our students helped with the Footprints in the Community’s summer holidays Kids Box Lunch event, set up games for the kids and did a sponsored walk and raised £436 for the Men's shed as well as lots of food donations to their food-bank. They also shot a short film for Footprints Men's and Womens Shed projects which is a place to go for support with any Mental Health issues such as loosing your job and if you need a place to go to be creative in joinery and crafts.

Footprints in the Community became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in July 2013, though their first project actually started back in November 2011 with the Footprints Cafe, based in a local church hall. The cafe was only open once a week, but quickly became a popular place for people to enjoy a healthy, value for money lunch.

In January 2013 the cafe became the venue of the first foodbank centre for Redcar, with two more centres opening shortly after and the launch of First Steps.  In November of that year, Ruth Fox (our CEO) became the first employed member of staff.

At the start of 2021, Footprints employs 10 staff members (mainly part-time) and has over 200 volunteers.  They are run by a Board of Trustees and are justifiably proud of their commitment to improving the lives of local people through our many projects and are always looking for more ways we can do this.
