National Citizen Service 2017 (Summer)
Redcar & East Cleveland. There are 3 start dates this summer, July 3rd, July 20th & August 4th
Age Range: 15 to 17 year olds
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that helps you build your skills for work and life, while you take on new challenges, meet new friends and have fun! NCS Events have lots to offer, including Outdoor Activities, Video Editing, Filming Skills, Media Skills, Communication Skills, Team Building Skills, CV Skills and Social Skills.
First, tell us you're interested either at school assembly, tutorial, information event or online at www.ncsyes.co.uk and the NCS team will contact you. They will go through the application form over the phone. Parents or guardians will need to give verbal consent over the phone for you to attend and make a payment either over the phone or online, unless you are eligible for a bursary. Once you've said YES, and signed up we'll invite you to attend a meet & greet day.

Here you will meet your summer Team Leaders and all the other students on your chosen project. Your Team Leaders will go through each part of the project in detail and find out more about your interests and expectations.
Phase 1, Outdoor Residential Centre, 5 Days 4 Nights
Where: Project 1 July 3rd YHA Coniston, Project 2 July 20th Ingleborough Hall & Project 3 FSC Castlehead. Your son/daughter will spend an exciting 5 days and 4 nights away from home with team building, problem solving and challenging outdoor activities and having fun!
Activities: Abseiling, high ropes, zip-lines, low ropes; canoeing, orienteering, archery and team challenges. Evening activities will be an introduction to the community, media, presenting and filming projects.
Phase 2, Local Residential, 5 days 4 nights.
Where: Project 1, July 10th-July 14th, Hunley Hotel & Golf Club, Ings Lane, Brotton, Saltburn, TS12 2FT
Project 2, July 27th-July 31st, Hunley Hotel & Golf Club, Ings Lane, Brotton, Saltburn, TS12 2FT
Project 3, August 11th-15th, Peat Rigg Centre, Cropton, YO18 8EX
Activities: Media & Presenting skills, Business Skills & visits, CV Building, MP visits, Politics, insights into the World of Work.
Phase 3 Learning about the local community and issues.
Where: Prior Pursglove College, Social Action planning, 10am to 4pm each day. Project 1 July 17th-July 21st, Project 2 August 3rd-7th, Project 3 August 20th-24th.
Phase 4 & 5 Social Action delivery & Graduation Events.
Where: Phase 4. The Social Action projects you choose will be in the local area. Project 1, 30 hours between July 24th-28th, Project 2, 30 hours between August 10th-14th, Project 3, 30 hours between August 27th-31st.
Phase 5. Graduation Events will be in September 2017, dates to be confirmed. This is a celebration night showcasing your achievements throughout the project presented by the NCS Students. You also receive your NCS Certificate signed by the Prime Minister Theresa May and your vInspired volunteering certificate. Parents & Friends are invited.
